Publication Design: 'It's Comical'

In this project, I took on the challenge of transforming two internet articles into a visually compelling and informative publication design. The first article features a talk with artist Lynda Barry, where she shares insights into her art process, working with children, and how her comics are influenced by her personal struggles with depression and childhood traumas. The second article discusses the controversial ban on Art Spiegelman's holocaust graphic novel, Maus, and its implications for freedom of speech and artistic expression.
To create a cohesive and visually appealing publication, I carefully curated the content of both articles, selecting key quotes and ideas that best represent their themes. I then used typography, color, and layout to create a visual hierarchy that guides the reader's attention and enhances the overall reading experience.
The publication design includes features such as pull quotes, image captions, and visual aids such as illustrations and infographics that help to contextualize the content and provide a deeper understanding of the topics at hand. The overall design is intended to engage the reader and encourage them to reflect on the power of art and storytelling, as well as the importance of freedom of expression in today's society.
